Pilgrimage of Saint Benedict (Cerro del Andévalo)
This is the oldest pilgrimage in the province of Huelva.

San Benito

Every first weekend in May, the Mayordomo/a, the Jamugueras and the Lanzaores walk in procession towards the San Benito Shrine, riding horses.
It all begins at midday on the first Saturday in May, when the procession, led by the Prioste, who carries the saint's banner, marches towards the sanctuary. The typical costumes are truly beautiful, as well as the dances which they perform to entertain the people.

During the four-hour journey, which passes through the village of Montes de San Benito, there is singing and dancing.
On arriving at the sanctuary, at dusk, the pilgrims go round the Real, with their eyes fixed on the shrine, while the Lanzaores dance to the rhythm of the drum and the bagpipes.

Is there a popular religious pilgrimage near your city?
Do you think it is important to maintain old traditions, dances and chants? Why?

In Poland people organise pilgrimage , because they believe that thanks to the Virgin Mary our country exist .So we make annual pilgrimage to Czêstochwa ( I'm going to participate in this pilgrimage ) Le¿añsk (I take part in this pilgrimage every year) £añcut and £agiewniki. During pilgrimage we sing and pray. It's a marvellous experience for me when you sing and pray with others people who like you have some requests to God. You feel strong bond between these people. So it's incredible !

I think that it's very important to maintain old traditions because they show that we differ from others country and we have something what is extraordinary. In my opinion we should keep all traditions because they show our cultural identity.

The most popular pilgrimage in Poland is pilgrimage to Czêstochowa but alse there are organized pilgrimages to £añcut and to £agiewniki (in Cracow). During the pilgrimage youth sing religious songs that to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary. The pilgrimage to Czêstochowa became a tradition graduate and students in the second class from primary school because take part in before maturity exam and the First communion.

In my opinion is very important that to maintain old traditions, dances and chants because thanks this things people have a sense of personal identity and every regions have own individual culture and traditions and this is awesome.

Around my town there are no major shrines and pilgrimages.
Although in the next town, in Cmolas is organized once a year pilgrimage, but...
I never met with so merry pilgrimage
During the pilgrimage to Czestochowa, people often sing devotional (but youth) songs, but rather, it isn't so joyous as to be writing...

And I think it is important to nurture the tradition and everything who slowly fading,
we need to save, not only for future generations, but also selfishly = for themselves :D

No, we don't have a particular pilgrimage near our city; if we had it, it would mean we're a backward city. This is what I think.
In my opinion it's not so much important to maintain old dances and chants, because they're such a symbol of too much old times.
